Spring is in the air

As I woke up this morning and went outside, suddenly, I felt a change in the atmosphere in the air. ahhh “Spring has arrived”.

Shy flower

Spring to me is the season of new life and bright colours. The days grow warmer and warmer and the branches start budding new blossoms and leaves. No one knows when each blossom will fall, but when they do, these delicate blossoms will graciously pirouette to the Spring gentle breeze reminding us all that the beauty of Spring can bring happiness into our day to day lives.

Budding vine

While reading your favourite book in the cold grassy patch, you never know when flower petals will fall into the pages of your book or if your having a picnic laughing with family and friends and playing Monopoly. Falling petals are unpredictable and have a mind of their own. Surprisingly, the chances of a petals falling on your head too are quite high (if your standing underneath a blossom tree of course).

Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning -Psalm 30:5

Like the flowers and leaves in all of its glory and splendor, we too can change and shine if we choose to think ahead and press on seeking that change so that we can  accomplish our dreams and purpose in life when the storms come. Don’t let this or any season pass by knowing that you have the power to make decisions that can determine where you want to be in life

Kay’s question: What do you like about spring”

Many bloggers go through a silent phase where they just stop writing, and you wonder what goes on during that huge gap.

As for me, I got so occupied with uni that I didn’t even notice that I stopped writing, blogging, photography, playing the piano, spending time with family and friends over the past 3 months. The void inside of me also grew bigger and over time I devoted ALL of my attention to honours, which made forget other things that were important to me. Everything else that’s was not relating to honours just didn’t seemed to matter as much at the time. Somehow that didn’t seem right. That’s because my uni, and social life and priorities was totally lopsided. I threw my social life and commitments out of my life.

All work and no play,  REALLY makes a dull person.

Honours has been the most demanding and intense year in terms of my academic journey. It’s a total oxymoron thinking that I would never encounter  any form of hardships. I knew I would have moments where I would be frustrated mentally and emotionally exhausted to the point where I would tell myself ” Jezzz, why on earth did I apply for honours”.

What drives you to keep on going when life throws you a curve ball?

It can be very frustrating when you start something and nothing seems to be going the way you’ve planned it to be. This often leaves me discouraged findings excuses to throw in the towel and just end it all. How I’ve wished that a time machine could take me back to the past to rectify all of my past mistakes, or fast forward the trials that I have to face.

Well, unfortunately we can’t go back to our past or skip situations that makes us feel uncomfortable.  Instead of feeding my mind with negative thoughts that would repeat over and over. In my case, I listened to a gentle voice inside of me.

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jer 29:11 ~ NIV

This is a challenge as things may not always go the way we’ve planned them to be. Sometimes the unexpected and the undesirable may happen. Personally, I am also learning accept that life has it’s peaks and troughs, and that we just have face our trials, that is to let go and let God intervene over every situation.

Mistakes is something that all of us experience whether we like them or not. Making mistakes does not disqualify us from getting back up and trying again.  Instead, mistakes are lessons of wisdom which builds our character and makes us  stronger, more confident, more wiser. Character is usually not developed during the time when life is pleasant, but rather in our pain and suffering or past errors.  Our attitude plays a key role in the way how we respond to difficult situations as well as decisions. Our mind is so powerful that we can determine how what our future will look like.

What counts in life is not always the victory but, the magnificence of the struggle or past mistakes. The champions and great people we see today would have also faced adversities as well Wilma Rudolph one said.

“Winning is great, sure, but if young in life, the secret is learning how to lose. nobody goes undefeated all the time. If you can pick up after a crushing defeat, and go on to win again, you are going to be champion someday.”

The situation may appear like it’s hopeless or impossible, but if you keep on holding and believe that you were made with purpose, you will be able to say to yourself that ” I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along my way”. Also every-time you succeed in this this you will realize that the rainbow will signify that the storm has passed. =)
